Car Idling Is Bad
The Canadian Office of Energy Efficiency has suggested that if you’re going to idle in your car for more than 10 seconds, you should turn your car off to save, not only gas, your money, but also the environment.
I was first exposed to this phenomenon while visiting India in 2000. Traffic lights there, like anywhere else, consume some 2+ minutes of your life and in response to the atrocious air quality in most cities, the local governments had instructed motorists to shut down their vehicles. A hilarious list of things dispelling what Hollywood thinks that code and “hackers” are capable of doing. I gotta especially agree with #10; when I first saw Independence Day, I had to call BS on that.
Seriously PWNED
Phising is a common scheme used primarily through email. You’ve all gotten the emails from Paypal, Ebay, and various banks claiming that your account was compromised and you have to follow a link to “verify” your information.
In the IM world, it is possible to use a combination of phising and social engineering to get people to divulge information they clearly shouldn’t. But once in a while this sort of a scheme backfires and the resulting hilarity is classic!
