A Milestone Reached

My daughter had her one month checkup with the doctor and has grown 1 inch in length and to a healthy 8 lbs. 13 oz. in weight.

The doctors and we, needless to say, are very happy with the positive growth Riana has made in just a month. I should up posting some more pictures of her shortly. Once I get Gallery and my web host to behave properly, I’ll start posting some videos of her.

Our baby is here

The journey that started around July of last year finally came to an end for us on Sunday 03/04/2007. Our daughter, Riana, was born at 2:20 PM. At birth she was 20″ long and weighed a slight 5lb 15oz. Even though she came almost 3 weeks in advance of her due date, she is very healthy and after a couple days stay at the hospital we returned home with her.

Having her in the house has been an adjustment for all of us, but it’s one that we all welcome and are enjoying. As first-time parents we have experienced help around us to make sure that we can handle our baby.

Ultrasound Pictures

Riana_Ultrasound-11.JPG As we head towards the homestretch of my wife’s pregnancy, we decided to get some 3D ultrasound images taken of our baby. We’d had an opportunity to see some 3D images of her at about 20 weeks, but it is nothing compared to what she looks like now.

As part of the package we got a bunch of nice 3D pictures and a 40 min DVD of her quite active and interesting movements. This technology is quite amazing and gives us a very nice glimpse of her appearance while still in the womb.

Another, approximately, 8 to 10 weeks and we’ll know for certain who exactly she looks like. :)

Primed for Color

With each passing week we inch closer to the time for our daughters arrival. In preparation of that, we decided to spend some time sprucing up our third bedroom to be her nursery.

The first course of action was changing the color of the walls. When we got our house built almost 2 years ago we had decided to go with a single color throughout the house as changing colors was way too expensive.

After spending an hour at the local paint shop we picked up a color that we think will work with the furniture that is on order and everything else that’s eventually going to make it’s way into that room. Before the color though, we had to prime the walls back to white to ensure that the lighter color we chose wouldn’t clash with the darker existing color.

After about 4 hours (my first time painting, mind you) I can say that I’ve finished the priming portion and am ready to tackle the paint tomorrow.

We will, no doubt, have some pictures of the nursery as it takes shape either on my gallery or my wife’s. :)

The Day Has Arrived

Today is the day that we find out whether we are having a boy or girl. Geeta, needless to say, has been anxiously waiting for this day to arrive for quite a while. She naturally has the inability to be kept in dark about anything for long, and to have survived until now without knowing about this big a surprise is an amazing feat no doubt.

Amongst many decisions that are impending; baby naming comes to mind, people ask why we want to know the sex of the baby. I don’t think we see not knowing as necessarily any more fun than just knowing that we are having a boy or girl. I think it would be nice to refer to the baby as him or her rather than “it”. :)

Also, I imagine that knowing the sex will allow us to focus on things that only affect one sex, clothes, name and so on.

Oh the fun!

The suspense continues..

Turns out that our baby was being very uncooperative today. So though we could tell that it seemed completely healthy, there was little else we could tell.
It’s a Girl!

We had to visit a non-diagnostic ultrasound place, but we found out that we’re expecting a little girl. :)

Cheers
