Primed for Color
With each passing week we inch closer to the time for our daughters arrival. In preparation of that, we decided to spend some time sprucing up our third bedroom to be her nursery.
The first course of action was changing the color of the walls. When we got our house built almost 2 years ago we had decided to go with a single color throughout the house as changing colors was way too expensive.
After spending an hour at the local paint shop we picked up a color that we think will work with the furniture that is on order and everything else that’s eventually going to make it’s way into that room. Before the color though, we had to prime the walls back to white to ensure that the lighter color we chose wouldn’t clash with the darker existing color.
After about 4 hours (my first time painting, mind you) I can say that I’ve finished the priming portion and am ready to tackle the paint tomorrow.
We will, no doubt, have some pictures of the nursery as it takes shape either on my gallery or my wife’s.

Fraudulent Charges
I’m the kind of person that would rather charge my purchases on plastic and deal with the bills at the end of the month than carry around a large wad of cash. I’m also the kind of person that pays my bill in it’s entirety each month.
Imagine my surprise when my beloved Discover card denied my purchase today. I immediately called them to find out what happened and was informed of some charges that, in the hustle of bustle of the mall’s throng, seemed OK. So I had them reactivate my card, but the charges that gentleman from Discover was speaking of seemed a little odd.
Destructive Gaming
The Next-gen consoles are all trying to make their game controllers better than the previous generation. The XBOX 360 only added wireless capability, the Sony PS3 SIXAXIS controller added wireless capability with motion sensing, and the Nintendo Wii employs the most revolutionary controller.
The Wii allows users to use its Wiimote to control the action on the screen with realistic motions. The controller employs a simple strap put around your wrist to ensure that the controller doesn’t go hurling out of your sweaty palms. However, turns out that this single safety device is prone to breaking causing the Wiimote to become a finely guided missile headed for none other than your beloved HDTV.
If you think it takes the strength of an overactive adolescent or adult to cause this strap to break, think again. There are reports of little girls enjoying a game of Wii Sports bowling or tennis causing this sort of damage.
Perhaps creating a controller that players would have to swing around wasn’t such a good idea after all?? Nintendo does make a “classic” controller for the Wii, how long do you think it will be before people start flocking back to that?

Bush a Threat
A majority of people in three countries with close ties to the U.S. — Britain, Canada and Mexico — consider President George W. Bush a threat to world peace, ranking the U.S. president right up there with the leaders of two countries he has labeled part of the “axis of evil” — North Korea’s Kim Jong Il and Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. #
I guess this wasn’t too surprising looking at the direction the US has gone in the past 6 years. And to think, we have 2 more years of him.
PC Gamers Downfall
I’ve been playing PC games since my teenage years starting in the early 90s. Back in the day, the variety of games that were available catered to every players genre. With each year, there was a general progression towards specific genres that were really popular.
Today, the FPS and RPG genres have taken the forefront in PC gaming while RTS, adventure and simulation are largely ignored. I’ve tried my hand at essentially all of these genres and had found simulation and adventure games to be the most engaging. Read the rest of this entry »
Twins Apart
“We were joking when I was pregnant about what if one baby looked like me and one looked like Michael? We joked about one light one, one dark one, so it was amazing when it actually happened.” #
Fraternal twins usually share many similarities, even if less so than identical twins, but this sort of basic difference is quite interesting.
Gears of War
Cliffy B: I feel that Gears is unique enough in its own right and stands on its own as a new universe with a play style that is a true evolution of the shooting genre. We have the thrills of a shooter with the intelligence of a tactical game. All of the titles that you mention are games I’ll be picking up in the near future and tearing through. #
Gears of War is “emerge”ing tomorrow if you didn’t already know. Check out this interview with the designer.
Seriously PWNED
Phising is a common scheme used primarily through email. You’ve all gotten the emails from Paypal, Ebay, and various banks claiming that your account was compromised and you have to follow a link to “verify” your information.
In the IM world, it is possible to use a combination of phising and social engineering to get people to divulge information they clearly shouldn’t. But once in a while this sort of a scheme backfires and the resulting hilarity is classic!
